Here are six of my favorite groups
to join for picture book writers
  1. This is my third year as a member. The premise is you will end up writing 12 picture book drafts in 12 months. The group has tons of info, a forum for fellow writers, a community for joining or starting a critique group and a chance to send your manuscript to agents every month and much much more! There are three levels of membership. Sign ups are only open for one more month (until Feb 28th, 2014).

  2. Tara Lazar’s PiBoIdMo http://taralazar.com/piboidmo/
Another helpful group made up of picture book writers. It's set up for you to write down 31 picture book ideas during the month of November.  Its free of charge. Join the facebook group too! https://www.facebook.com/groups/265963663444660/

  3. I was a member last year. I’d like rejoin once I start attending conferences.

  4. I was a member of this group before the  SCBWI group. It's a wonderful community of writers and full of extremely helpful info.

  5. I have not been a member of this group but I always hear great reviews. I am a member of their facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/childrensbookhub/

      6.  Making Picture Book Magic [this is an online class]
I took this class in November of 2013. It’s was unbelievably helpful. I’m still using the
instructor’s techniques with my current manuscripts.  You can’t beat the price either.  Make sure to
follow Susanna’s blog http://susannahill.blogspot.com/ it’s loaded with info for picture book writers.
And she always hosts fun contests.

  1. Love your list. I think the CBI Clubhouse is the only one I'm not involved with ... yet ... one day. The new kidlit411.com site is an awesome all in one.

  3. Great list! I'm enjoying ReViMo (Meg Miller) and Start the Year off Write (Shannon Abercrombie) this month. I also like NaPiBOWriWee (Paula Yoo) in May. I enjoy the weekly Childrens Writers News letter from the ICL too.
